Personal Data Protection Policy

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Honda Automobile Insurance Broker (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Honda" or "we"), as a company in Honda Automobile Group and data controller, will collect, use, disclose, and transfer your personal data to provide our seamless services to you. We are committed to protecting Personal Data (as defined below), as we prioritize your trust.
This Personal Data Protection Policy (the "Policy") describes our collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of your Personal Data (as defined below) to communicate and provide you with our services through authorized dealers who sell Honda-branded vehicles "Dealer") when you contact us regarding the business, conduct legal relationship with us, visit our website or contact us via the call center, social media, or other channels where we collect your Personal Data. This covers personal information about your rights as a data subject and about individuals who we interact with for business purposes. They include, but are not limited to:
- individual customers (either potential or current customers);
- those with authority to operate a business, directors, shareholders, employees, personnel, beneficiaries, those who are authorized to build business relationships, and any other individuals of the same status, including contact persons of corporate customers or business partners, including Dealers (collectively referred to as "Corporate-Related Individuals");
- visitors and users of our website and social media platforms, application, and any other individuals whose Personal Data is collected by us (e.g. family members, spouse, dependents, beneficiaries, insurance premium payer, assignee, witness, compensation claimant, or petitioner);
- insurance agents and brokers
- onsite visitors; and
- any other persons whom we may have collected the Personal Data for whatsoever reason.
Please study this Policy thoroughly to understand how we collect, use, and/or disclose your Personal Data. However, this Policy does not cover products and services other than the services a Dealer offers to you on our behalf and in such case, the protection of your personal data will be under the Dealer's own privacy policy. Please contact the Dealer to access the privacy policy of such Dealers.
We will collect Personal Data only when it is required to procure products or provide services as you request, to comply with legal or contractual requirements, or to pursue our business operations. In certain cases, if you refuse to provide the Personal Data required for procuring products or rendering services as requested, we may not be able to offer or deliver our products and services to you, may not be able to enter into a contract with you or perform our contractual obligation to you, and this may cause inconvenient receipt of or access to all or some of our products and services, or inconvenience in business operation or in the case where you have any other legal relationship with us.
We may amend this Policy from time to time and will update it on our website. Any amendment will supersede all former versions. If you would like to acknowledge any change in this Policy, we encourage you to regularly monitor the Policy on our website. However, in case of any material changes, we will notify you of the changes and re-obtain your consent when necessary and legally required.
Under this Policy, "Personal Data" refers to any information about an individual that enables the identification of that individual, either directly or indirectly, or as defined in applicable personal data protection laws, or as described hereunder. The Personal Data we collect depends on the relationship between you and us.
- Personal and contact information, e.g. title. first name and surname, nickname, gender, date of birth, age, nationality, occupation, workplace, nature of work, income, email address, telephone number, address, information about social media accounts, customer code, customer status, photos, video records, voice records, CCTV recording, weight, height, and marital status.
- Information in government-issued documents, e.g. information and/or copies of an identification card, passport, driver's license, documents supporting any changes, and house registration book.
- Information about your Honda-branded vehicle ("Vehicle"), e.g. Vehicle plate number, Vehicle identification number (VIN), product number, engine number, Vehicle model, Vehicle class, codes of Vehicle class, codes of Vehicle model, body, gear type. body type, color, glass coating, model year, Vehicle size, volume of cylinder, date of pickup, Vehicle weight, Vehicle import, Vehicle performance, accident and Vehicle problems, service history, repair history, and accessories.
- Information concerning your purchase of a Vehicle and use of services. This includes, but is not limited to, payment information, bank account number, credit card information, other payment-related information (in conformity with applicable laws and regulations), billing and shipping addresses, information concerning orders for products and services, the Dealer who you receive services from, inquiries and complaints, opinions on products or services, and agreements that you enter into, e.g. warranty claims, after-sales services, repair services and customer relations, termination of agreement and disputes.
- Marketing information concerning products and services. This includes, but is not limited to, information relating to newsletters and communication channels, opt-in or opt-out of receiving news and information, invitations to events and special activities, special offers and received privileges, special interests and benefits, questionnaires and answers, and information about customer segmentation.
- Information about your use of services. This includes history and details of service use, questionnaires or customer satisfaction surveys, browsing history (concerning your interests and related settings), marketing and communication details (e.g. your satisfaction and settings relating to receipt of marketing information and communications from us), and your Personal Data of which we will notify you when collecting.
- Information about communications. This includes, but is not limited to, procedures of communications via your preferred channels, and communication and interaction with us (including records of communications with us).
- Any other information from your device and technologies. We and our third-party service providers may employ technologies that collect and report your browsing activities. Furthermore, we may automatically collect your IP address or unique identifiers of mobile devices, computers, technologies, or other devices (collectively referred to as the "Device") that you use to access the website. This covers information relating to network connection, type of web browser, operating system, and other technologies of your Device including cookies. Your usage information and specific information of your Device cannot specifically be associated with you. However, if we can associate such information or any other information with you, we will consider that information as your Personal Data under this Policy.
- Sensitive Personal Data (only if you are our existing clients who already provided your Personal Data to us), e.g. religion and blood type (as indicated in government-issued documents or others) and ethnicity.
If you intend to have insurance, we will collect the following additional information via our Dealers or affiliates.
- Additional information for insurance application, e.g. copies of a Vehicle registration book, copy of driver's license, Vehicle inspection report, photos of the Vehicle, Vehicle reservation ticket number, policy number, Vehicle and accessories tax receipt, car price, car insurance availability and details, insured car, financial information (e.g. payment methods, bank account number, copy of book bank, credit card information), information in the title deed, property to be insured, your chosen insurance company, your chosen dealer, protection plan, premium payment, premiums, insurance period, work certificate, company certificate, certificate of the company's vehicle user (in case that user is not listed as company director), copy of employee card and other relevant government documents, spouse and child information, marriage certificate, birth certificate, death certificate, appointment letter of administrator of estate (if necessary), beneficiary details (such as name, surname, age, current address, phone number and the relationship with the insured), driver's name, insured amount, and reason for product cancellation..
- Information regarding compensation in accordance with the policy, including accident report, date and time of accident, details of the environment where incidents occurred, estimated damages, places where the incident was reported, claim documents, claim number, claim notification number
- Sensitive Personal Data in accordance with insurance application and/or checklists, e.g. health data, disability (such as drug used, medical history), criminal records, race, religion and blood type (as indicated in the document issued by the government or in other cases as requested by insurance companies)
If you are Corporate-Related Individuals of our business partners, we will also collect your following Personal Data.
- Relationship between you and our employees, e.g. family relationship, financial status, and instruction authority to make benefit in other cases
Only if you are Corporate-Related Individuals of our Dealers, we will also collect your following Personal Data.
- Information related to your work, e.g. working agency, position, responsibility of work, starting date
- Information related to your ability, e.g. ability to drive a Vehicle
- Information related to the training via our system, e.g. training history, results
- Sensitive Personal Data, e.g. religious data, health data (such as blood group, congenital disease)
Only if you are insurance agents and brokers, we will also collect your following Personal Data.
- Information related to the performance as an insurance agent or brokers, e.g. copy of insurance agent or broker license, copy of employee card, phone number, bank account number, educational degree (in some case), information related to the renewal of insurance broker license training, working agency, starting date
- Sensitive Personal Data, e.g. religion and blood type (as issued in the document issued by the government)
Only if you use Honda’s application, we will collect your following Personal Data:
- Profile information, e.g. the personal data used to create the user account, including photo representing the said account (profile photo) which has been used or is being used at such moment
- Healthy activities, e.g. number of steps, cardio score, and sleeping length
- Picture and voice, e.g. files of picture and voice recorded in your device which you may have permitted the access
- Transaction record, e.g. record of the exchange and use of tokens
- Activity record, e.g. record of joining activities hosted by us, your picture and voice record taken at the activity or before/after the activity
If we use any type of the aforementioned information in a way that may allow us to identify you, we will consider and manage that information as Personal Data.
If we collect, use, disclose, and/or transfer your Sensitive Personal Data, we will proceed only with your express consent or when permitted by law.
We may collect the abovementioned Personal Data of other individuals (e.g. your spouse, family members, insurance beneficiaries, assignee, car drivers, beneficiaries, and any other individuals who contact us or provide our services). If you provide us with the Personal Data of any of those persons, you will represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so by:
a. notifying him or her of this Policy;
b. obtaining his or her consent when legally required or pursuant to necessary legal bases to enable us to use the Personal Data in accordance with this Policy; and
c. verifying the accuracy and completeness of the Personal Data you provide, and notifying us of any changes to the Personal Data.
3.1. Purposes for collection, use, disclosure, and/or transfer of your Personal Data
We use your Personal Data for the following purposes.
- To procure and offer our products and services to you to fulfill your requests based on your interests. We may use your Personal Data to contact and confirm any matters, e.g. to confirm your test drive, to inform you of product details and benefits under campaigns and promotions, to offer the benefits under campaigns, to offer the sale of Vehicles and conduct sales follow-up, to issue proof of Vehicle reservation, to execute a sales agreement for your Vehicle registration, to register your profile in our service system, to issue a tax invoice or receipt, to facilitate your loan and insurance application, and to take any actions to render services as requested.
- To provide after-sales services, e.g. notification and invitation to replace defective parts in case of product quality problems, compliance with a warranty, notification and invitation to a service center for a periodical inspection, provision of roadside assistance services, delivery of services when you bring your Vehicle to the service center, and provision of any other services as requested.
- To conduct customer relationship management through communications, provision of services, verification of Vehicle information and insurance as requested, management of inquiries and complaints, and to coordinate with other departments.
- To improve the quality of provision of products and services. We may use your Personal Data to conduct customer satisfaction surveys, to evaluate and improve our services, to analyze product and service data, to analyze personalized marketing data, to conduct market research and study, including unbranded surveys, market surveys, and direct marketing, to develop new products or services, to improve and manage work and service systems, and to implement customer relationship management programs of Honda and its affiliates.
- For marketing purposes. We may use your Personal Data to propose, forward, communicate, and conduct marketing activities, public relations, promotion of goods and services, promotions, as well as activities and special offers of Honda and its affiliates. This covers general information of Honda and its partner network regarding customer relationship management through various communication channels and advertisements related to your specific interests.
- To facilitate internal management of Honda and its affiliates. This covers preparation of information systems and internal databases, information systems and databases related to the provision of services to our entire customer network, accounting, auditing, management and processing of information concerning your purchasing and service use, processing and management of your payments or any other transactions involving Honda and its affiliates, and compliance with industry standards and our policy.
- To comply with laws and orders of government agencies. We may use your Personal Data to comply with legal obligations, requirements, rules, and regulations, request for cooperation from government agencies, our policies, and enforcement, to seek benefits under legal rights and claims, to defend against legal claims, to facilitate litigation, to manage complaints and inappropriate behaviors, and to support investigation, trial, and testimony to government officials.
- To protect our interests and the interests of those involved in our network. We may use your Personal Data to prevent and investigate fraud, illegal acts, neglect of duties, or improper actions, regardless of whether arising out of or in connection with the provision of our services, as well as to protect customers, employees, and other persons, including information, confidentiality, and properties under the responsibility of Honda and its affiliates, including verification of your identity for visiting our premises. This covers the establishment of, exercise of, compliance with, or defense of our legal rights, and defense of system and structural security for Honda and its affiliates, including the prevention of risks in relation to pandemics in our premises.
- To conduct business transactions, e.g. sales, purchases, transfers, and acquisitions of businesses, business units, companies, or parts of a company, other transactions relating to the company, and transfer of a customer's information involving the sale or acquisition of business.
- To prevent or suppress a danger to the life, body, or health of an individual.
- For other relevant and necessary purposes. We may process your Personal Data for other legitimate purposes depending on circumstances that are clearly permitted by law or specified at the time of data collection to allow data processing for that purpose.
If you intend to have insurance, we will use your Personal Data for the following purposes.
- To apply for insurance. We may use your Personal Data to allow us, as an insurance broker, to provide information related to insurance for you (such as premium, renewal, compensation in accordance to the policy, policy details, car inspection appointment) and to offer you services; and to apply for car insurance or other kinds of insurance on your behalf by disclosing your Personal Data to an insurance company for issuing an insurance policy and confirming information when issuing the policy.
- To provide insurance-related services or take any actions relating to the insurance policy that you enter into with the insurance company via our services. We may use your Personal Data to facilitate compensation claims under policy conditions and insurance claims when you get an accident or intend to claim benefits under your policy as you request, to facilitate your policy renewal, to refund insurance premiums or others in relation to policy cancellation, to inspect car for renewal or change of the policy, and to consider your policy and claims history to help negotiate premium rates with the insurance company as requested.
- To remind you to renew insurance by contacting you when your policy is about to expire.
- To report relevant regulatory authorities in case of having a request from such authorities (such as Anti-Money Laundering Office, Office of Insurance Commission) when received a complaints related to your insurance.
If you are Corporate-Related Individuals of our business partners, we will process your Personal Data for the following purposes.
- To conduct business communication with you or business partners.
- To select business partners. We may process your Personal Data to purchase goods or services from our business partners, to verify your identity and status of the business partner, to assess your suitability and qualifications or those of other business partners, to fulfill requests for quotations or bids, and to negotiate with or enter into agreements with you and/or business partners.
- To manage relationships. We may process your Personal Data to plan, develop, and manage contractual relationships with business partners through transactions, orders for products and services, payments, accounting operations, auditing, billing, and collections. This covers support of related operations, monitoring of your compliance with our agreements or policies, organizing activities, seminars, trainings, meetings including the recording of photos and videos in such events, and fulfillment of internal or affiliated requirements (including investigation and correction in the event of non-compliance with those requirements).
Only if you are Corporate-Related Individuals of our Dealers, we will process your Sensitive Personal Data for the following purposes.
- Religious Data: to verify and authenticate an individual and to provide appropriate meals for you
- Health Data: to record as a database for emergency and to prevent risk in relation to pandemics in our premises
Only if you are insurance agents and brokers, we will use your Personal Data for the following purposes.
- To perform duties as insurance agents and brokers: to verify and authenticate your identity, including to verify the status as an insurance agent or broker, to coordinate for the renewal of agent or broker license, to coordinate training and reduction of training hours, and to pay you for marketing (in some cases).
Only if you use Honda’s application, we will use your Personal Data for the following purposes.For the use of application. To create, manage, and maintain your account to use to application, to manage your transaction made through the application, and other services provided under the application, including to respond to your inquiries and accept your request.
- To provide information of activities. To invite you to activities, contest, PR, and other fairs as per your interest.
- To conduct customer relationship management through communications, provision of services, and the use as you may request, management of inquiries and complaints, and to coordinate with other departments.
- To improve the quality of the application and related services. To conduct customer satisfaction surveys, to evaluate and improve our services, to analyze the application and service data, to analyze personalized marketing data, to conduct market research and study, including unbranded surveys, market surveys, and direct marketing, to develop new products or services, to improve and manage work and service systems, and to implement customer relationship management programs of the user of the application.
- For marketing purposes. We may use your Personal Data to propose, forward, communicate, and conduct marketing activities, public relations, promotion of goods and services, promotions, as well as activities and special offers of Honda and its affiliates. This covers general information of Honda and its partner network regarding customer relationship management through various communication channels and advertisements related to your specific interests.

3.2. Legal bases for collection, use, disclosure, and/or transfer of your Personal Data
In general, we use the following legal bases to collect, use, disclose, and/or transfer your Personal Data.
- When the Personal Data is required in order to comply with an agreement between you and us, or to follow any steps you request (e.g. providing our services) before entering into the agreement with us.
- When the Personal Data is required to obtain our legitimate interests or those of a third party, provided that these benefits do not override your fundamental right to data protection (e.g. when we are obliged to disclose your Personal Data to a third party for providing services on our behalf).
- When the Personal Data is required to comply with the law.
- When the Personal Data is required to prevent or suppress a danger to the life, body, or health of an individual.
You are obliged to provide Personal Data to receive the full range of services from us, except when some of the Personal Data is required on a voluntary basis as indicated by us. In this case, we will ask for your consent to the processing of your Personal Data.
In certain cases, it is legally required to obtain the consent of a holder of parental responsibility, curator, or guardian before collecting, using, and/or disclosing the Personal Data of a minor, incompetent person and quasi-incompetent person. Therefore if you are under 20 years of age or an incompetent or quasi-incompetent person, you must ensure that you have obtained the prior consent of your holder of parental responsibility, curator or guardian (if the consent is required).
If we become aware that we have unintentionally collected the Personal Data of a minor without parental consent, or collected the Personal Data of an incompetent person or quasi-incompetent person without the curator's or the guardian's consent, we will delete that data when we cannot rely on any legal basis other than consent.
We may disclose your Personal Data to the following third parties for the purposes set out in this Policy.
Our affiliates
We may disclose your Personal Data to our affiliates, including, but not limited to, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Honda Leasing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and/or Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., for the purposes specified in this Policy. The targets are to ensure that you will receive the best products and services from our affiliates, to help support us to further develop suitable services, to comply with laws and internal policies of the Honda group, to provide support and offer promotions that meet your needs, to achieve our administrative objectives, to obtain the legitimate interests of Honda and its affiliates, and to improve the efficiency of our business operations.
Third parties
To offer you additional services, promotions, offers, and privileges and to achieve the purposes specified in this Policy, we may disclose your Personal Data to the following third-party data controllers or processors.
- Your insurance company.
- Financial institutions.
- Our authorized Dealers who sell Honda-branded Vehicles, offer services to support or maintain your Honda-branded Vehicle, or offer you a new, better service or product.
- Our suppliers and business partners for the lawful purposes set out in this Policy.
- Our service providers. We may disclose and/or transfer your Personal Data to third-party service providers. The legal relationships between us and the third-party service providers may be aimed at pursuing our normal operations for a variety of purposes. The services include call center and voice recording management, marketing and advertising, technology and communication, customer satisfaction survey service providers, claim service providers including e-claim, printing and delivery service provider, marketing survey and research, human resource service providers, and social media management.
- An investor or contracting party who is interested in acquiring our business, company, shares, or part of Honda or its affiliates.
- Parties to actual or potential litigation as required by applicable laws.
Others
We may disclose your Personal Data to government agencies (such as Anti-Money Laundering Office, Office of Insurance Commission) , judicial authorities, and regulatory agencies as required by applicable laws, courts, legal advisors, accountants, and auditors.
You can ask us for a name list of recipients of your Personal Data, including their identity, a brief description of the collection, use, and disclosure of your Personal Data, and addresses of the recipients, by contacting us in line with the contact information below.
We may transfer your Personal Data to a third country with your consent or pursuant to the legal bases (e.g. for the performance of contract) that entitle us to proceed for our legitimate interests, to the extent permitted by the provisions of applicable laws.
If we are obliged to obtain your consent for the transfer of your Personal Data to other parties outside the country, and the Personal Data is transferred to a receiving country that may have inadequate personal data protection standards in line with the personal data protection laws in Thailand, we will take any actions necessary for protecting your transferred Personal Data to meet the personal data protection standards to which we adhere in conformity with personal data protection laws stipulated and applicable at such time.
We take appropriate organizational, technical, physical, and administrative measures to protect your Personal Data from accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, access, use, alteration, or disclosure, including Personal Data access or access control, in order to keep its confidentiality, accuracy, completeness, and availability under our control in accordance with the minimum legal requirements.
We set out measures to control and limit access to Personal Data and use of devices that store and process Personal Data, to encourage safe and appropriate collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Data, by determining access rights of data users and authorized employees, as well as data users' duties and responsibilities. The aim is to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, acknowledgement, copying, or theft of devices that store and process Personal Data. Furthermore, we establish measures for retrospective review of access, change, deletion, and transfer of Personal Data.
We will retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes stated in this Policy and to comply with applicable laws. However, we may retain the Personal Data for a longer period to fulfill other necessary purposes such as compliance with applicable laws, establishment of legal claims, compliance with or exercise of legal claims, or defense against legal claims.
If we are not legally permitted to retain your Personal Data for a longer period, we will delete your Personal Data from our systems and records and/or will take necessary actions so that your Personal Data can no longer identify you. In the case of litigation or judicial or disciplinary proceedings, we may retain your Personal Data until the proceedings are terminated. This will cover the period of any appeal process. We will then delete or archive your Personal Data as permitted by the provisions of applicable laws.
We employ tracking technology ("Cookies") and similar technologies, e.g. Device IDs, pixel tags, or Web beacons on the website www.honda.co.th (hereinafter referred to as the "Website"). Cookies are small files stored on your computer (or other Devices connected to the Internet, such as a smartphone or tablet) when you visit the Website. Cookies usually have a filename containing the address of the Website, lifetime of the Cookies (how long they will be stored on your Device), and other values that are generated automatically and randomly.
We will use the Cookies' data on our Website, except other Cookies ("Third-Party Cookies"), which are used and managed by a third party. These Third-Party Cookies are used by us in our Website to improve the quality of our services and to upgrade visitors' experience when browsing our Website. These Third-Party Cookies are mainly used to obtain visitor statistics and to guarantee payment transactions.
We may install our Cookies on our partners' websites that publish advertisements for our brands and/or products. Most of these Cookies are used to display content that meets your interests, and to evaluate our content (including advertisements). The types of Cookies and tools we use are:
- Necessary Cookies refers to Cookies required for our Website's operation under the terms between you and us. This includes the Cookies that allow you to access secure areas of our Website.
- Analytical or performance Cookies will enable us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to acknowledge how they use our Website. This helps us improve the way our Website operates – for example, by ensuring that visitors can easily find what they are looking for.
- Functionality Cookies will remember you when you return to our Website. This helps us remember your settings on the Website, to personalize our content, to greet you by your name (e.g. in terms of language or region.)

- Facebook Connect feature. We may allow you to sign up and log in to the Website via your Facebook account. If you sign up via the Facebook Connect feature, Facebook will ask your permission to share certain Personal Data from your Facebook account with us. This may include your first name, last name, email address for verifying your identity and gender, residential zone, link to your Facebook profile, time zone, date of birth, profile picture, your "likes", comment, activities shared and friend lists on Facebook, and friend list. The Personal Data collected by Facebook will be provided to us under the terms of Facebook's privacy policy, which you can view at https://www.facebook.com/policy.php. You can control the Personal Data we receive from Facebook through the privacy settings of your Facebook account.
- Facebook Custom Audiences tool. This Facebook service allows us to show personalized advertisements to individuals on our email list when they visit the website Facebook.com. We will submit your Personal Data, e.g. your email address and phone number (encrypted through hashing to become human-unreadable) to Facebook to verify whether you are a registered account owner. - Google Tag Manager tool. We apply the Google Tag Manager tool to our Website to help manage tags on our Website through Google's interface. Tags are small snippets of HTML coding that help measure website traffic and acknowledge visitors' behavior, to analyze and understand the results of advertising and social media. Furthermore, you can request to opt out of receiving email communications and/or marketing information from us at any time you wish to stop receiving marketing communications from us. You may notify us of your request by email, telephone, on our website that we have provided for the data subject's right request or letter, in line with the contact information in the section "Contact us" below. Any adjustment will not be effective immediately. We will endeavor to fulfill your request as soon as practicable within the period required by applicable law. If you opt out of receiving marketing information from us, we may continue to send you important administrative news, which you cannot opt out of receiving from us.
